Following a childhood of committed doodling, Southern California contemporary artist and curator C.Martino continued creating art. He pursued this passion in a dilapidated San Diego studio even after receiving an MBA and working for global consultant Accenture.
After trading in his briefcase for a brush, Martino focused on and continues creating a diverse body of modern narrative painting, sculpture, and installation work. Transforming the mundane into the magical, his “streetwise, not quite pop” inspired art varies on the piece’s or series’ mood, intent, and character. “Distilled to its essence, an exploration of the many often contradictory trajectories that intersect and define our hectic day-to-day lives."
Martino's recent custom installations and sculptures include exhibition at and curation of group shows “Barrio All Starz: Norte” at Sergott Contemporary Art in Rancho Santa Fe and "Thought Out/Boxed In", "Cruel Summer", and "Imperial Conquests of the Palate (shut up and eat!)" at basileIE/CM Curatorial in San Diego.
His "Requiem Pointbreak" mixed media surfboard series is in the California Surf Museum's permanent collection. Martino's work is also displayed in public venues and private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe.
